Big Sur elder Don Case lost his home in it’s entirety during the Basin Complex Fire of 2008.
Many community members are looking to help Don raise his home once again if funds for basic building materials can be donated. Donations can be made here and are tax deductible through The Coast Property Owner’s Association’s 501c3 non-profit organization.

On the announcement page, I moved the fundraiser for Chuy and Gloria for the 19th at the Grange, after giving it a few days front page space, and I posted the announcement for the meeting regarding Ambulance Service for Big Sur there as well.
Also, don’t forget the Health Center’s 30th Anniversary BBQ today, Saturday, at the Grange. And Sunday is the Lucia BBQ to benefit the Big Sur Volunteer Fire Department. Hope your weekend is filled with love.

I would dearly love to attend the event for Don but unfortunately the 50.00 ticket would deplete my food budget for the month. I have spoken to some others who are in the same boat. Is there no alternative,such as a sign up sheet for a commitment of labor, or feeding a work crew once reconstruction begins? I would be willing to cook, do site mclean up, light labor, town runs for supplies, etc. I would love to hear what others nthink about this.
Denise, I am sure that many volunteers will be needed and will pass your offer and any others along to Don and Mike Gilson, the organizer of the event.
Once the actual building is ready to begin, I will post something here on my blog, which can be used as an informal sign-up sheet, unless I find that the DonCaseHouseRaising. com or .org is set up to do that. But the call WILL go out, and your name will be on it. ;-)
