Highway One closed AGAIN, south of Gorda

It is official. Highway One is closed at Alder Creek. PM 8, 2 miles south of Gorda. Rocks and mud coming from above. Nothing until morning, then I’ll bring you up-to-date as soon as I know.

  1. Darn! the Highway crew has worked so hard to make this happen and keep something open. Looks likes debris and rocks just keep tumbling down. Please keep them in your thoughts as they work on this and the other areas along our coast. Blessings and Thanks for all they do the hard work they have already done.

  2. I agree with Rain, thank you for all of the Cal Trans and others working on the roads, you must be tired and over worked by now.
    Thought the sun would make it less intense, you are all in my thoughts and thank you so much for your ongoing hard work. We do notice and appreciate you.

Somehow I clicked on a link for the “Alder Creek Slide” and mistakenly got info about last year’s Alder Creek Slide…I live up in Big Sur and don’t know much about the south end of the road or its recurring slide…coming across the Lucia-Limekiln area today was treacherous…many active slides and sinking sections of highway…rocks falling, ooze oozing…nervous about getting back home!
