  1. The very best kind of storytelling, intimate and worldly at the same time. The history of what he writes opens up a panorama of such enormity of people and time and place, the world and how it worked, how it failed, how it rested, how it blew up. And the effect of such a huge proportion on the fine, the individual lives serving their time, living their days, thinking their nights on Highway 1.

  2. I wonder what a compound curve is. Would “Paint Curve” be the sharp curve with a steep incline just south of Salmon Creek?
