NOON: A day for fires in wood stoves, soup on the kitchen stove, cornbread in the oven, and dogs or cats curled up near or on one. A good book, a journal, or art supplies at one’s fingertips is a plus. Winter is but a month away and, for me, it is a time for introspection, solitude, and quiet.

I would have been going to a memorial for our local sweet man, Guy Kirby, but my road gets too slick to risk it, particularly with a bum knee, if I don’t have to. Guy would understand.

At noon, I have received a quarter inch. Always hoping for more. How have you done, so far?

  • Rio Road Carmel, no totals but an off and on drizzle since 9:30 am. Again a good drink for the forests.

  • On and off mid-valley, too. Sun, clouds, rain, sun....balmy weather and not much wind. The smell of the earth intoxicates. And practically before one's eyes, brown going green and....what is that?...fluffy?
I loved reading your indoorsy nest all cozy. Take care of the knee, have a respite.

  • Quite a bit of wet stuff happening here north of the border... even occasional gully-washers and hail every now and then. Sorry, no measurements. I covet your fancy equipment. :)

    • I got a total of .31", although NOAA, Monterey, reported that Big Sur recorded .67"! So, somewhere between me and thee, Ken, they lucked out!
