Big Sur Library closure extended

Monterey County Free Libraries is extending the Big Sur Library closure. Due to deteriorating building conditions and planned structural repairs, the Big Sur Library remains temporarily closed until further notice. MCFL will be offering other library service options. The Bookmobile will be at this site on Fridays 11:00am–3:00pm. Other library services are:

  • That's pretty crushing, no library, even with an extension you'd think this was the wilderness or something.
    Why doesn't some brilliant local merchant host the temporary library, which would bring whomever more business and the untold gratitude of the cognoscenti and urchins. Or get a bookseller set up.
    And I hope everyone who sees this has read or promises to read "Parnassus on Wheels" which is about an old horse-drawn library in a wagon going the countryside, and too marvelous for words. Say goodnight, Gracie.

  • Thanks for the follow up, Kate. I was working from an email from our Librarian, Julia. In it she referenced the May 1st date. She also invited the recipients of her email to forward to interested folks. I'd like to forward to you but her letter is in an email.
