7:30 pm – nothing further to clarify, but I did hear a Monterey dispatch saying a fire (no clue as to which one) was called contained at 4 and 1/2 acres by the unit on scene.

Around   6:30 pm this was reported on WildCAD:
Date Inc # Name Type Location WebComment Resources IC Fuels Acres Lat/Lon
06/19/2016 18:35 LPF-1753
Arroyo Wildfire 2 miles north of Piedras Blancas Light house . DIV1LPF E16LPF 4X4 E17LPF PAT17LPF Q . . . 35.754 x 121.311
06/19/2016 18:20 LPF-1752

Around the same time this was on the scanner:

arroyo seco at 101…..engs. 3466, 5191, 3483, 1 eng. from Monterey, WT21, D3440, Questa 2 crews

I have no clue which is accurate or if this is two separate incidents. Time will tell, and I will report what I learn as the evening progresses.

  • Thats makes since for the location. Arroyo de la Cruz is just north of the lighthouse. It is where the highway realignment is happening.

  • Not sure, could be in LPF land. I am unsure who has jurisdiction down there. Do you get SLO county on your scanner? If you have a programmable scanner I can find the freq. for you if you want.

  • It was a fire near Piedras Blancas. Head on TC turned into a veg fire after one of the cars caught fire. SLO MM68 Hwy 1. Its on SLO CHP CAD right now. Sounds like they got a hold of it. Releasing resources right now.

  • I was feeding horses at 6:30 PM & had a good view of Highway 1 from the pasture. I saw 2 CHP units headed north & 1 fire truck. But there have been sirens going off here in Cambria almost constantly since 6:30 until now which is 8:25 PM. Arroyo de la Cruz makes sense. Some of that would be Hearst Ranch & some FS. The scanner had reports of incidents on Highway 46 , Highway 58 out by Pozo & something in San Luis Obispo as well. I think the Pozo incident was a vehicle accident.

    • Thanks for that, Sandy. I stand corrected. I thought it was all Hearst Ranch through there.
