CDFW recently completed a black bear study LPNF/Ventana using scrapes to gather fur, so they can genetically analyze how many different bears there may be. Probably will take the laboratory a while to do the DNA analysis, so I don't know when the report will be out. Time to start using bear canisters in the Ventana! :)
