NEW MANDATORY EVACUATION ORDERS ISSUED FOR TONIGHT & Revised Fact Sheet, 7/24/16

PLEASE READ THESE CAREFULLY!

Just issued at 9:30 pm – this revised fact sheet. The only differences I can tell are in the Evacuation Notices – and NO Carmel Valley is NOT included, and YES evacuation warning issued for Old Coast RD from Bixby to Andrew Molera.

  • Kate, which way is it moving, can you tell?

    Thank you!

    • Lisa, I am hearing pretty much every direction but West, but on the north end, they are watching it very carefully, and guarding it very carefully so it doesn't get into the Highlands.

  • I thought White Rock was on mandatory evacuation, but it appears it's now on advisory. Must be because there's 4 big Cal Fire trucks there now and ground fire fighters. Yeah!

    • Lord, Lois, I guess I've lost track. Almost time time climb into bed with my book.

  • THANK YOU. I live in Carmel Valley Village but unfortunately I'm wheelchair bound so I'm watching all this very closely.

  • Kate, you really are a rock star. The service you are providing to thousands of people is invaluable. I know you do all this from the kindness of your heart - if you were to direct people as to where to donate (Big Sur Fire Victims Fund? Firefighters Education Fund?) - I imagine you would see a LOT of dollars flowing in as people are so grateful to you!!!!

  • Correction...there were 10 trucks (not 3 ) and
3 dozers at White Rock with good fire road access to fight fire before it gets too close. Helicopters dipping into White Rock lake, as well as the lake at San Carlos. No mandatory vac at this point, but many have removed all valuables from cabins and done additional clearance.
