  • If you want a complete rundown, check out https://bigsurkate.wordpress.com/

There is a blog entry for each day of the fire, but often the real info is in the comments.

When you look at maps, remember that the cabin is on Whit Rock Ridge. And our Road between Garzas Creek and the Ridge is now GPS mapped so it shows up after the first couple days as a black squiggle.

    Interesting stuff.

Spoke with Jon and Lori Zobler Thursday. Jon snuck in and hiked Palo Colorado. House survived, but will take extensive cleaning.

  • Looking from clear ridge this morning we could see flames coming around the south side of pico blanco near the top. Bombers are.spreading retardant on the south side of the mountain. Light south winds.

  • Re: CAL FIRE INCIDENT REPORT: "Evacuation Center: Carmel Middle School, 4380 Carmel Valley Road Carmel-By-The-Sea, Ca. 93923 (Is on standby as needed.)" The Red Cross closed the Carmel Middle School EVAC center Friday. The Moose Lodge in MRY graciously donated room for Friday night. EVAC is moving to the Calvary Church on HWY 68, MRY starting noon, providing a community gathering place, meals and car camping. The CAL FIRE INCIDENT REPORT needs to be updated. Palo or other evacuees can call 831.596.8105

    • No clue, but I am sending water and food donations their way. Churches, especially giving ones, always need money.

  • I can give you 6 full names of KSBW photographers that took those "disater porn" shots. if interested please E-mail KLocke831@gmail.com

It's terribly disrespectful the way they handle the process.

    • Thanks, Kyle. Hopefully, we will put pressure on KSBW to change the way they report these things.

  • I agree, I have a cabin in White Rock and I know I wouldn't want to find out it was destroyed on the news. That's very disrespectful.

  • I am so grateful water in lakes in the area was available for our firefighters to refill their trucks and helicopter buckets as well as provide an emergency escape area for these brave hard working people. In addition to the valuable wildlife habitat they provide, lives, property, and some of the wild lands we all share have a better chance to survive this disaster because they exist and have been maintained. Our thanks to those who have provided these valuable resources. We have family on these fire lines. They are all family. God speed.
