  1. Thank you, Kate, for including the Chimney fire in your daily updates. Our weekend was just a small taste of what Big Sur folks have been going through for weeks now. Thank God for calm knowledgeable locals down here and, of course, for our unbelievably hardworking fire fighters.

  2. Kate, thank you for all the valuable information about the fires in the area. Friends and I were driving from Los Angeles to Monterey and found the information regarding the Chimney and Soberanes Fires on your site to be the most comprehensive, easily understood, and up to date of any other source. We modified our drive and other activities based on your information (locals would be proud of us). Just wish there weren’t fires for you and the locals to write about!

  3. Has fire reached Copperhead Road yet In Hidden Valley Ranch, below Bald Mountain?

  4. Regine, did you ever get any information about Copperhead? My mom’s house is on that road. One of her neighbors there out there who is staying put for now called her this morning and said there’s no fire there yet.

  5. Betsy and Regine, on the right, in my 2016 Fire Season list, there is a link to current fire maps. Pull that up. Enter the area you are interested in, i.e. Bryson Hesperia, CA and it will take you to the area of the fire you are interested in. One can zoom way in and see the names of creeks, streets, etc. I just rediscovered it, myself, and it is a very handy tool for your box.
