5:40 pm – USFS managed to clear the tree. Nacimiento is now open. There were actually two trees in the road, one on the east side just below the Nac station, and one on the west side about a mile from the summit. Thanks Doc, for getting those cleared for us!

Carry a chain saw and fuel for it, in the vehicle, when you live in Big Sur.
It turns out that there were 2 trees down. Doc finished cutting the first one that was just blow the Nac Station, then proceeded west toward Hwy 1 and encountered an even larger tree about a mile below the summit on the western side. He said that he had lots of help from waiting motorists who hauled away the cut pieces while he sawed.
