  • This boulder is telling Caltrans it wants to be a part of that seawall below - tell us, how did it hurdle over those road barriers?

    • It landed on top of it - see the hole? - and then tumbled out into the road. Once rocks like this start letting loose, others are sure to follow, and we haven’t even felt the worst storm yet. Wait until later today and tomorrow!

  • Kate, yes, now I can- if I widen my font to 300% of normal.

I gather we will have a full scope of all bridges and land/soil strength attached to it assessments once this storm has passed too? I'm curious how the new bridge on the block, Pfeiffer is hanging in there..Any idea how often these checks on the bridges take place?

  • Kate, this latest rain wave surge in CVV should let us leapfrog the 1' mark in the next half hour..

  • Spent 3 hours today in the rain, making the most of the flowing water to fix the Campbells (sp?) road, make bars to channel water into the ditch and keep it from digging the grand canyon any deeper at the school water tank hairpin turn. Nothing like a hard rain to make the job easier, but when I was done I had to change clothes & shoes. Wet head to toe, despite full set of foul weather gear. More wet from sweat than rain, except for non water proof hiking boots.

    • Ah, Suzi, life here on the South Coast, huh? Always exciting! Hugs, and take your preventative steps. For me, it is elderberry tincture. For you, it might be zinc. Whatever it is, make sure you take care.

  • A 2 inch precip day is .2 away with an hour to go - will it reach that level in time? Another impulse of moisture is making its way into view..
