**48-HOUR TRAFFIC ADVISORY**
TENTATIVE TEMPORARY CLOSURE HIGHWAY 1 AT MUD CREEK/PAUL’S SLIDE
Monterey County — Caltrans has received notification from the National Weather Service (NOAA) that there is a significant storm arriving in approximately 48-hours for the areas of Mud Creek (PM 8.9) and Paul’s Slide (PM 21.6) on State Route 1 in the Big Sur area.
This advisory is for the public to be ready in the event the roadway needs to close due to a predicted significant storm and allow time for the public to prepare for the closure including stocking up on necessary supplies and making plans.
NOTE: At the 24-hour mark, an updated traffic advisory will be sent, either confirming the full closure or providing additional information. These advisories apply only to the Mud Creek and Paul’s Slide areas with each closure being treated separately.

Happy Thanksgiving every one!
First i wanted to say the storm i thought was going to be an "inside slider" ended up being an "outside slider" with a much larger moisture feed and thank goodness because our fire season in my book is over till next Summer! Now onto the next storm thats lining up for Saturday and its looking like a classic! This is much more of a typical warm atmospheric river storm and is lining up to hit the Big Sur area directly with rather large precipitation totals forecasted in the range of 6-10 inches with some ridges receiving 12+ inches! This weather whiplash we are experiencing is possibly linked to our warming earth in particular the polar regions and scientists are starting to say a tipping point is very near now that could have irreversable catastrophic impacts on our fragile planet. On lighter note enjoy the storms lining up and be safe driving with rocks and slides and watch for downed or falling trees/limbs if around forested areas!
