Burying, or banking, a fire is a great way to keep the coals alive for a quick start in the morning – but it is of course a very dangerous practice if you vacate the campsite.

Burying, or banking, a fire is a 2 Million year old practice that should never be used by competent knowledgable prepared humans, if you find yourself in a survival situation in 2022 that requires this ancient practice you should not be in command and control of fire as you are a danger to yourself and others.
Humans have been to the moon and to the deepest part of the ocean we know how to keep warm without fire, When humans eat around 2,000 calories, they generate between 300 and 400 BTUs per hour, clothing existed 1 Million years before fire, insulate and survive.
