  • When I was very young, my mom introduced me to the writings of Rachel Carson. Also Suzanne Simard “Finding the Mother Tree” is another blissful journey through the forest💚.

  • In the fall of (1960?), whilst counting trees for the U. S. Forest Service in the upper Feather River Country, the air was perfectly still. Large and numerous snowflakes drifted vertically, swaying back and forth as they slowly fell. I stopped. The only sound I could hear was that of my breath and beating heart. My first and only experience with absolute silence . . .
