Mike Harlan, the son of the original road warrior, Don Harlan, sent me these and I know some of you will remember this.
And here is another postcard from the 60’s, sent to me by Janet

I have kept a business card from PVC but it doesn't have Mary's name on it. I must have collected it in the late 70s/ early 80's.
I remember going there when I would camp at Plaskett Creek in the late 60s.
Funny how it has the Cambria 927 prefix on the phone number! Love this post!
The few landlines up here are all 927 prefix and always have been — the school, the USFS station, Gorda. Many homes along the highweay. Always.
Thanks for the memories Kate ….Of course I remember Pacific Valley…Alan
Richard and I would often go ther for coffee during our Hudson Ranch days
We moved from the Chicago area to Boulder Creek in 2021, but have traveled to Big Sur yearly since the mid-80s. I recall having a delicious grilled fish sandwich at the Pacific Valley Center.
Anyone remember L'Auberge a Mi-chemin in Gorda?
Every time my husband and I would drive by there after it closed He’d say they always had the best pies. The wild flowers in the spring are still beautiful
We only had to dial 4 digits to reach anyone with a 927 # in Cambria.
Later, at Piedras Blancas , we graduated to an 8 party line and had to dial the 927 part.
I remember it well! I worked there when Tom and Hatty ran the place! I replaced Irma Gould when they moved to Cambria. I went to school with Mike and knew his parents well!
I'm currently writing a book about my life as a child, growing up in Big Sur. I'm hoping to get it published by July, this year!!
