On March 31st, a vital section of Highway 1 at Rocky Creek Bridge slid into the sea after heavy winter rains, resulting in the closure of southbound traffic to Big Sur. Meanwhile, on the opposite end of the highway, the South Coast remains inaccessible due to three slides. This prolonged situation has caused significant isolation and hardship for residents, workers, businesses and essential services throughout the Big Sur community.
One thing we’ve consistently witnessed during times of disaster, is the remarkable way people come together to offer support. This fundraiser is another opportunity to do just that. Your attendance and donations to the Big Sur Disaster Relief Fund have meaningful impact. The Community Foundation for Monterey County working with the Community Association of Big Sur (CABS) will distribute 100% of proceeds from this event, an online auction (to come) and your donations, to those affected by this closure.
