Are they really that stupid????? This is not the time to do a burn.
last year when they were going to do a burn at the BS Rivermouth I too was aghast and terrified and bless their hearts they postponed a bit, but I confess they did a FINE job managing it in the end. let's all hope that in this as most other things in life "practice makes better" because proactive use of fire IS the future.
Agreed. They have gotten better about prescribed burns and they are beneficial. Of course, those of us who have lived thru wildfires have a “gut” reaction based on PTSD. I am working on overcoming that.

As to motives, "follow the money."
Thanks Wayne. Pretty interesting. Some misinformation about bears (both black bears and grizzlies) but their hearts were in the right place. As to vegetation “management” they were pretty spot on.
CalFire- read the announcement above..its like CalFire constructs these declarations with the sophistication of a 6th grader.oIts alarming! The statement pointing out smoke produced from control.burns is generally less the that of a wild fire. Now there's a perfect example to tax payers- we've employed numbskulls. They use announcement space to state nothing of substance..only.boring.garbledegoob. While its generally the rule to conduct prescribed ignitions during low wind- low temps, low heat & ideally during wet or at light drizzle periods..CF in all they're wisdom
makes the choice to set ignition at exactly the least desirable window.
