Leave no trace ethos

Need to be taught and retaught every day. To each new generation of campers. How hard is it to pick up your own tp? This was yesterday.

  • So true. When I’m camping at Kirk, I pick up all trash and when people do fire rings on Naci Rd, break those up. It’s disgusting to experience such lack of care of this beautiful and precious land. Thanks for posting.

  • My wife and I are Long Term Volunteers with California State Parks at Garrapata SP. One of our many jobs is to clean up after visitors. Many are aware that they shouldn’t be a “litter bug” and act responsibly. Unfortunately, with others, they have never been taught “leave no trace” and a few just don’t care.
Environmental studies should be a part of the standard curriculum starting in kindergarten with “leave no trace” as annual lesson.

  • not to be a culturalist, but in India and China it is the norm to poop in a yard...in fact they think latrines are unhealthy in many instances.

  • Kira, I realize that, but they do NOT leave their toilet paper lying around partially because they don’t even use tp. They use water.

  • Use leaves. Bury on hot coals before closing Dakota Hole.

    Best,
    Wayne

PS: How many trees and energy, not to mention money ($100 bills in the case of Kings) does it take to wipe the Nation's ass?
