  • I'm curious to see how far this signage goes - folks are already parking nearly half way up to Hurricane Point and walking back down the highway, so hopefully the these signs (and enforcement?) actually deter parking and don't just move it further from the bridge.

  • This is definitely a step in the right direction, and is to be applauded. But based on how ineffective the no parking signage is on the east side of the highway at Point Lobos, unfortunately it probably won't deter many people.

  • well sure, signs are a lovely idea, possibly a step in the right direction, BUT as others note will there be any ENFORCEMENT ? or how about solid barriers ?

  • If there is enforcement there will be a lot of citations issued. But for a lot of tourist it may be worth a ticket to get a ‘selfie’ with Bixby Bridge. Present, egos and sheep mentality have no limits.

  • OK , fwiw the first of my transits through Bixby, and yeah, the fools don't give AF about signage. blahblahblah to them, they DON'T CARE apparently, gee what a surprise . same old same old, idiots parking like idiots and walking around like it's a park not a highway. nice signs, thank you MoCo, zero change in results by that action. ( further statements redacted ) yes, I'm frustrated

  • Drove through Bixby South on Tuesday (to the Grange meeting) 4:55 PM, 2 SUVs, a State Park Ranger. But Hurricane Point parking was completely full.
Returning North at 7:56 PM, no Ranger, 5 cars parked on both sides and one in the southbound lane with flashers on. No enforcement.

  • Thank you Big Sur Ridgewalker. Let’s keep those reports coming. Yesterday when I went thru at 3 pm, it was a madhouse of people over the line, parked on both sides right under the “no parking” signs. There was a LEO (couldn’t tell what flavor) parked on OCR, but couldn’t tell if the car was occupied or just parked there empty. (My suspicion.)
