Plaskett Fire, Day 1, 8/26 initial report

10:30 am – 50 acres and asking for permission for retardant.

10 am – Fire was spotted and called in by JC this am. HE is on Plaskett, not the fire. The fire is in the south fork of Willow Creek near the north fork junction. More of a threat to Los Burros people at this point than to Plaskett, but that will change at some point.

Here is a photo JC took about 10 am: AA from Santa Maria on site or on the way.

  • Oh no! Another fire!?! I'm glad JC spotted it and called it in. I hope it is not too close to you Kate. Praying!🙏

  • Fighting fire on ANOTHER front. Just what we need/s! Is it too early to get that dispersed camping gone wrong feeling? Thinking of you, Kate. Hope they send a heavy mover in to knock it down quick.

  • Gorda 1985 was about 6000 acres and I know it went south to around silver peak (THE peak). Def burned the Cruikshank trail. Funny that the Cal. Wildfire history map doesn’t show that part of the Gorda- Rat fire. I have the original USFS official report of the Gorda Rat fire at home in BS but if I drive down to get it, I won’t be able to get back to town. At any rate, we know there’s plenty of fuel up Los Burros rd.
