Last night was wild. Got about 2 hrs of sleep from 6:30 to 8:30, once the flames around the property subsided. Calfire operated a burn from Plaskett ridge road above our water tanks down to the highway and kept it to the south side of our house and Merritts. As far as I’ve heard, no structures lost last night except for a basic platform deck on our property above my house. Here’s some photos.

I have a friend in Gorda. Firefighters have been doing an amazing job, despite zero containment of keeping the fire aways from that hamlet
Dear Kate , our neibor ….. we are the ones that park in the pull out at your gate and hike into the small one room cabin ….. it took two years to dig a trail by hand and ten years to build a darling cabin on the bluff ….. a family of friends we build our dream and protect the road and eyes on safety and security we are all heartbroken and crying …. We just don’t know ….. we hope you are safe and well praying for all …….. is our cabin still there ?
I don’t know, but I would really be surprised if it were. Hope for the best and prepare for the worst. Did it have a metal roof and Hardie Plank siding? Then maybe. If wood, probably not, but don’t give up until you can get it, which mayy be weeks. I can’t go home, either. This fire has been incredibly erratic and unpredictable.
Extremely large cajones of the firefighters & the neighbors who stay to save their places & their landlord’s places. I can’t imagine looking @ the walls of fire & feeling like it’s a beast that can be tamed but so far you’ve all proved me wrong! Hang in there, remain safe & I hope the winds are in our favor.
