• thru history..control firing has been benificial in supporting healthy landscapes..maintaining open area & of course reducing this scenereo ..we blow smoke for centuries procrastinating while tear after year we get boxed in with scenarios like this
  .costing whole water sheds completely wooed out then washed out by the following rains. Watch the Trump boys jump on this one as it develops into a finger pointing exposa bout lack of forethought by Dems...& Gov Oldsome, taking a pass on making wise moves..
  This loss of wild space & will become the subject of why national forests should be timbered... by saying its pro-actively managing . When one looks at the numbers..loss of effective watershed, threat to wildlife habitat, cost to tax payers...loss of business revenue..ie- 75 K per day at Nepenthe..This seasons fires will certainly open a Pandoras Crate of issues.

• I agree with this sentiment Mr. Haverfield. Putting the politics of this fire season's fallout aside for the moment, I am deeply concerned with what may (or will likely) occur in the back country river drainages if this winter's El Nino predictions pan out like we've been hearing for awhile now. The Big Sur community at large and areas further south are potentially going to suffer some of the worst flooding damage that we've seen in recent years. There'll be plenty of political blame to go around I'm sure -- hopefully the community will ignore all that and rally together to help out when needed because the "great washout" will be the 2nd part of this tragedy yet to come.

  • Sorry I couldn’t hear that well. Maybe ask Soaring. She was there. They didn’t cover anything about Plaskett, and Timber seems to be settling down. Plaskett is a nightmare.
