HIGHWAY 1/ROCKY CREEK VIADUCT PROJECT CONTINUES WITH DAYTIME ROADWORK AND INTERMITTENT OVERNIGHT CLOSURES
Daytime roadwork on Highway 1 continues next week from 7 am to 5 pm Monday, March 25 through Friday, March 29.
Night closures next week are as follows:
· Tuesday, March 26 through Thursday, March 28—9 pm to 11 pm with up to 10-minute delays;
Overnight closures next week are as follows:
· Tuesday, March 26 through Thursday, March 28—11 pm to 7 am—(Friday 7am) full closure each night
NOTE: There will NOT be any overnight work, meaning closures (9 pm to 11 pm) or overnight closures on Sunday, March 24 or Monday, March 25. Also, NO OVERNIGHT WORK ON SUNDAY, MARCH 31 (EASTER).

Just out of curiosity, what's this doing to businesses in Big Sur? Are you getting any tourists from SF or LA into stores there? That was a huge consideration, people wanting the drive down Highway One, who were on vacation schedules, not planning to stop, or start early or late and take their time. Now finding a temperamental route, and heading for 101.
I think Business has been okay, from what I hear, but it has played hell on the businesses via their employees. Many have found places for them to stay, as needed.

It has always been a stretch to get to Big Sur.
And, hopefully, always will be.
It should be a special experience, primarily.
That is true, but this stretch, with three closures, is even more of a stretch than usual. I think most of them will be over, or over enough, to make the drive and ride a bit more bearable by the fall.

We call & email all of our guests about the closures but it does feel to me like we are having less drive in's which may be attributed to the road being closed, not completely sure. One benefit has been that with the time change back in November people seem to get off the road earlier. I am with Kate, the biggest situation has been for the employees that live in town and for the locals you go to school, want to go to town for entertainment, etc. I think the lack of rain has helped, not for us, but for the progress of working on the roads. I can feel Spring Break hitting.
