HIGHWAY 1 CONVOY RESUPPLY RUNS SET FOR FRIDAY JAN. 13
MONTEREY / SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTIES – In order to allow for access in and out of the closure area on Highway 1 for resupply runs ahead of another storm this weekend, Caltrans will be running a limited convoy operation on Friday, Jan. 13.
This is limited access to allow for resupplies during this window of milder weather before a more intense storm passes over the region this weekend.
The convoy schedule is listed below. These times are based on estimated travel given the road conditions and may change if road conditions change.
Caltrans and contracted crews will suspend all work operations on the highway in order to facilitate the safe and timely passage of the convoys.
The weather forecast is for light rain on Friday. Road conditions may change as result of the weather and may alter or suspend this convoy operation.
Local residents should wait in their driveways for the convoy to pass in the respective direction they wish to travel.
Convoy Schedule for Friday Jan. 13, 2023
•Convoy will depart from Ragged Point and head north at 8 am and arrive just south of Deetjen’s Inn at approximately 9:30 am.
•Convoy will depart from just south of Deetjen’s Inn at 10 am to arrive at Ragged Point at approximately 11:30 am.
•Convoy will depart from Ragged Point at 12 noon and arrive just south of Deetjen’s Inn at approximately 1:30 pm.
•Convoy will depart from just south of Deetjen’s Inn at 3 pm and arrive at Ragged Point at approximately 4:40 pm.
Highway 1 will remain closed at Polar Star.

Safe travels in the rain. Today would have been the day, as beautiful as it was!
Insufficient "heads up" time. A neighbor who would have taken advantage of the convoy didn't learn of it until it was mostly over. I suggest that you always keep a month's food and supplies on hand during the winter. Plus books! Read about the 19th century Big Sur residents. They didn't have to go to town for months.
I agree re lack of notice, but you know, we need to be responsible for ourselves and help each other as a community. It is not healthy or same to count on others to rescue us or bail us out when Mother Nature acts up.
