Regent Slide Photos by Bree Harlan

Bree advises us to notice that the SB lane of Highway 1 is deteriorating and beginning to fall toward the ocean. And Bree is right. The slide has definitely gotten wider.

  • It APPEARS that the toe of the fill (?) portion of the roadbed is compromised, presumably by wave action. The responsible agency should know whether or not such unconsolidated material meets structural standards. It also should have the results of the upper slope/cut rock materials and how close (a range of values) they are to potential failure due to gravity and resistance. Please correct me if I am wrong.

  • That's going to be tough to remedy...too steep on either side..it'll only continue to slide off..why not just build an IMAX theater at the N & S borders of Sur, featuring Sur Reels 24/7and return the Lonely and Wild to the Cougars & the Wind.
