Obviously, this makes our fire danger even that much more critical; No dragging chains; No hot exhaust on dry grass; No lit cigarettes outside of enclosed areas; No campfires; No fireworks;; And lastly, No STUPIDITY — be fire conscious.

We had a house fire in Boulder Creek 2 days ago that reportedly was started by a candle. Luckily BCFD got there fast.

Fuel temperature and diameter can reduce ignition time, the latter being the most important and subject to control. That means that hand pruners can remove all fuel that is subject to burning in the flame front. Dry weeds are the big problem. A friend with a steel house lost it because there was a wood porch and two inches of dead grass.
