We have been harassed by MPs on Jolon Road while we were birding. As my father, a retired Army captain, said “MPs are mean SOBs - they bully soldiers, who aren’t easily bullied.” It is profoundly disturbing if MPs are involved in immigration enforcement - assuredly against the law.
I guess I'm lucky to normally have low blood pressure because after reading this update my blood is boiling right now!
Thank you so much for sharing this report. I shouldn't be shocked, but am.
I don't get it!! Jolon Rd is a county owned road and is not within the boundaries of Ft. Hunter Liggett. So in reality, no federal police should be pulling anyone over and harassing them due to the color of their skin while passing by (not entering) the main entrance. Nor should they be even if the people are on Mission Rd trying to get to the coast or to Jolon Rd!
dear Kate, is collaboration between the Military and Federal Civilian agencies LEGAL ? I suppose being on a military base confuses or complicates the issue ? this does not at first blush appear constitutional ( though the present administration does not seem to care about that in any case )
