| Hi Kate, The Trump administration is moving to restrict the public’s ability to track and comment on projects that shape the future of our national forests.TAKE ACTION NOWThe U.S. Forest Service is proposing a rule that would drastically shorten public review periods for major forest projects—at the same time the administration is pushing to expand commercial logging on public lands. Instead of weeks to review proposals affecting thousands of acres, communities could have as little as 10 days, with strict limits on formal objections. That’s not enough time for volunteers, scientists, and local organizations to review plans, visit sites, consult experts, and submit meaningful feedback. Public input has repeatedly improved forest projects—protecting sensitive habitat, watersheds, and wildlife. Shorter review periods make it easier to fast-track large projects with less transparency. Our national forests belong to all of us. Decisions that shape them for decades shouldn’t be rushed or made without meaningful public involvement. The administration is accepting public comments—but only until March 9. Make your voice heard before this rule moves forward.PROTECT PUBLIC INPUTThank you for standing up for our forests—and for the public’s right to help protect them. With gratitude, |
