Road Work Delays in Big Sur next week

I am only including those in Big Sur since there are so many of them.

Road and Lane Closures Scheduled for March 1 – March 7, 2026

MONTEREY COUNTY – Here are the majorscheduled road and lane closures for Monterey County from Sunday, March 1, through Saturday, March 7 – newest information is in bold text. Please keep in mind that construction work is weather-dependent.

Highway 1: SB Highway 1 Post Mile 54.87: Long – Term 

One-way traffic controls will be in place along southbound Highway 1 at Post Mile 54.87 for slide-temporary signal work. Travelers may encounter a 15-minute delay. 

Highway 1: NB Route 1 – NB Paul’s Slide: March 2 – March 6

There will be one lane closure along northbound Highway 1 between northbound Route 1 and northbound Paul’s Slide for emergency work from 7 am to 5 pm. Travelers may encounter a 10-minute delay.

Highway 1: NB Route 1 – NB Fullers Point: March 2 – March 6

There will be one lane closure along northbound Highway 1 between northbound Route 1 and northbound Fullers Point for emergency work from 7 am to 5 pm. Travelers may encounter a 10-minute delay.

Highway 1: Molera Park Entrance/Coast Road – Point Sur Naval Facility: March 2

One-way traffic controls will be in place along northbound and southbound Highway 1 between Molera Park Entrance/Coast Road and Point Sur Naval Facility for mowing work from 8:30 am to 3 pm. Travelers may encounter a 15-minute delay. 

Highway 1: Atherton Drive – Oliver Road: March 2 – March 6

There will be closure of the right shoulder along northbound and southbound Highway 1 between Atherton Drive and Oliver Road for gas line work from 8 pm to 6 am.

Highway 1: Tioga Avenue: March 3 – March 5

There will be one lane closure along southbound Highway 1 at Tioga Avenuefor bridge work from 10 am to 1 pm. Travelers may encounter a 10-minute delay.

Highway 1: Anderson Canyon Bridge – Pfeiffer Burns State Park: March 4

One-way traffic controls will be in place along northbound and southbound Highway 1 between Anderson Canyon Bridge and Pfeiffer Burns State Park for mowing work from 8:30 am to 3 pm. Travelers may encounter a 15-minute delay.

Highway 1: Esalen – Anderson Canyon Bridge: March 5

One-way traffic controls will be in place along northbound and southbound Highway 1 between Esalen and Anderson Canyon Bridge for mowing work from 8:30 am to 3 pm. Travelers may encounter a 15-minute delay.

Highway 1: South Coast Center – Anderson Canyon Bridge: March 5

There will be a moving lane closure along northbound and southbound Highway 1 between South Coast Center and Anderson Canyon Bridge for mowing work from 8:30 am to 3 pm. Travelers may encounter a 15-minute delay.

  • Planning a shakedown camping cruise 3/1-3/3 to Kirk or Plaskett. Last couple years we found problems that needed fixing before the two weeks at Kirk in April. I'm thinking we need to reconsider our destination! :) Thanks for the update.
