  • My husband and I were just discussing how See Monterey might get involved in helping ameliorate the problem. Good for them! And much gratitude to Kate Daniels for pushing on this. Really like the artwork.

  • I have never in my 30+ years here in Big Sur have I seen such a mess !....In the space of about 1 hour. passing McWay falls....someone had run up on the berm....only thing stopping the car...a grouping of trees, and the driver wandering aimlessly around...officers on the scene traffic, and pedestrians everywhere....wondering how much weight that chunk of dirt can handle!.... then ..major police action just north of the Deli, including 4 law enforcement vehicles, guns drawn, woman arrested, police dogs engaged for searching, something pretty serious...dont know what, Just at the Anderson Canyon pullout...a pop up and big RV...FRESH SQUEEZED LEMONAID STAND!...FOLKS WAVING SIGN HAWKING THE LEMONAID'1...Point Lobos....Cars parked on BOTH sides of the highway....Cars being ticketed.......I felt I was lucky to get out alive xoxox.

  • Nice ad from See Monterey. I’d just add to Keep Big Sur Beautiful: & Moving!

The gene pool has declined to where people believe their phones instead of what’s in front of them. Maybe the McWay mishap was due to their phone telling them to turn left NOW!

Driving an RV these days with the gas prices as they are they’re going to have to sell a lot of lemonade.

Best of luck this summer, residents. Try to keep your cool!!

  • It’s a very nice sentiment, but have you met the tourists? These are the folks that for two years, after passing eight signs saying the road was closed, asked me if the road was open. If they enforce no parking at the bridge then these same people will stop their cars somewhere even more dangerous.

The coming El,Nino will likely close the road again, lessening traffic and start a new round of “Is the road really closed?”
