Just beautiful, all firey little fairy leaves.
That looks like poison oak.
Right you are, Wally! Pretty, isn't it? Or one might call it an angry red.

I remember guests from S. California visiting the Inn at Ventana, years ago.
She and her husband went for a canyon walk. She brought back a beautiful wreath of this "absolutely beautiful" red-leafed vine, and adorned her neck with it.
The results were stunning.
Oh, what a picture! You made me laugh!

I was just commenting yesterday that the beautiful fiery red swaths on the mountainside ironically are poison oak!
I named my daughter August partly because I love the way everything looks and smells in Big Sur then. Oh and she has red hair too lol!
Similar to Ventana story...had a friend who worked at Robles del Rio in Carmel Valley. With an upcoming wedding, he added this beautiful "red vine" to the bridal party bouquets.
