Nacimiento River

I took one of my rare trips to King City the other day, and notice how low the River was. Many places it was completely dry, but in the places where there was water, it was stagnant.

  • I don't know this river at all, very beautiful pictures of the place, Kate, lovely scene. I take it you're worried about the level and lack of movement. Wasn't somebody, with much outcry, going to demolish a dam somewhere around here? Did it have any effect on anything?

    • Yes, the level is the lowest I've ever seen it, completely dry in many spots, and no movement in the few places where there is water. And we have at least two more months of no rain, maybe longer. This river is usually flowing rapidly.

That is the Carmel River Dam, out your way ... Actually it is out in the backcountry behind Jamesberg or Cachucha, sorta. I don't know if it helped,or if the dismantling is even completed, yet. XT will know. He follows this closely.

  • Very sad, with little hope for next winter. I had a fruit tree die last winter/spring before I realized it.

  • the dam being taken down is not the one directly above Cachagua, but the one downstream nearer CV Village.
