Photo Sunday, January 25th, 2026

The Photo this Sunday is to honor the memory of Alex Pretti, an RN in the ICU at a VA hospital. Federal agents (Border Patrol) murdered him by shooting him in the back four times and then 6 in his chest, neck, and torso while he was surrounded by seven armed and out ofc control Border Agents yesterday,This is the photo of him in his scrubs circulating on the internet. Fair warning, I will take down any comments that are not respectful in every respect. I am a vet.

I honor you, sir. Rest easy knowing you are a part of history now and on the good side…the winning side.

  1. When will this outrage be over. I am from Minnesota and a nurse. This is just unconscionable!!!

  2. Thank you, Kate, for honoring Alex. I”m a retired RN with many years of experience, who, like Alex cared for vets at CHOMP. He did not deserve to die. He did not deserve to be treated as he was. My heart goes out to his bereaved family, his fellow nurses and his patients.

  3. As jaded as I am, I was shocked this could happen. After another incident a week or teo before. There is no rational reason for using these tactics in our country.

  4. Thank you for posting this. Tears here. Anger also. We shall overcome.

  5. I am a retired RN (worked 45 years in the hospital setting). I don’t agree with anything the Trump administration is doing.
That said why would any demonstrator carry and conceal a gun in a peaceful demonstration? I can’t help but think he wouldn’t have been killed.
Not trying to start anything, just a question I have.

  6. At some point they wont be able to spin these murders any more and they will start using the word “execution”. Some states execute for crimes against society but regardless of your belief in capital punishment Alex Pretti was murdered.

  7. Yes, as a veteran myself who served overseas in the United States Navy…. in Vietnam, Koh Tang, and elsewhere, I also feel the outrage.
Blessings to we who served our country, and who have also contributed to the children of Big Sur…yeah, blessings to you, Kate, for your decades of contribution.

  8. I’m a vet. My thanks to all who have a “. . . sense of decency!” I am so proud of my fellow Americans (and that includes my Cherokee grandmother and all her folks and fellow Native “Americans” whom the trumped-up-pardoned federal “officers” disrespect, abuse, and murder “proudly.” Pardon me while I barf.

  9. Thank you, Kate. I am angry and heartsick. I don’t understand why I can’t find any reports about the woman Pretti was trying to protect, or even reports speculating about why we are not hearing anything about her. Seems strange.

  10. Thanks for posting this! Our government is out of control in many aspects. We are going in the wrong direction. I feel so bad for him and his family.

  11. First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist
Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist
Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist
Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew
    Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me-Martin-Niemöller-Haus Berlin-Dahlem

  12. I am one of those people who are ashamed at the direction that we have allowed our country to take. We ALL need to stand up and tell the government that the USA doesn’t want kill squads.
