  1. I thought it was going to be a story about a Redwood Tree and a picture of the coast at Lucia.

  2. I’m a bit late with my comment, but I feel strongly about “correctness” of history. The Dani homestead was not at Pacific Valley as the article indicates, but was the same acreage that now has the Camaldolese Hermitage directly above Paul’s Slide. Redmond School District as stated in the article was incorrect. It was the Redwood School District formed in 1880 and continued some years later as Redwood Branch School District, which finally closed in 1942 for lack of students. The mileaqe stated as “nearly 100 miles” is a bit heavy. It was close to 50 miles, however, and a very arduous 2 day trip by foot or horseback. It may be noted that Lucia Dani became the first postmistress of the Lucia Post Office which was established in the Dani home on March 8, 1900. Even with the errors, I think the article was great.
