I have continually requested that in these types of communications when we list balancing the interests of … or listing our priorities, that we put the environment first, not last, as without the environment, the residents, the businesses, the tourists would not be here, and yet, it continues to be listed last. (See *bolded portion below in 3d ¶) Get our priorities straight, and eventually, people will listen. That is my first suggestion.
Despite this misapplication of priorities, I applaud the efforts of BGT, CABS, CHP, MoCo, USFS, State Parks, and all of us who are involved enough to make a difference. Please, let your voice be heard.

Thanks for sharing the Big Sur DSP website link. We look forward to comments and suggestions. The sentence from CAB’s announcement on balancing the interests of the public with business, residents, community workers and the environment is not intended to be in an order of priority. They are each integral to the larger plan. On the DSP website the importance of protecting Big Sur’s cultural and natural heritage is front and center and is, indeed, at the heart of a successful DSP. Destination, destination, destination, that’s all I hear. IT’S NOT A DESTINATION!!! Have we all forgotten that the 70 mile Big Sur Coast is primary a scenic hwy? Destinations require development, and Big Sur’s Land Use Plan prioritizes scenic travel and limits all development (public & private). The plan was designed to preserve Big Sur’s wilderness environment and to maximize public access to our scenic hwy … a national treasure of unspoiled beauty. Lets please try to keep it this way! I’m thinking that Beyond Green Travel should be looking into developing a “Scenic Travel Stewardship Plan” instead.
