Rocky Creek Update, 4/10/24 from MCOE’s news briefing

Rocky Creek Slide Update

Convoys through the slide area will be cancelled on Saturday, April 13th due to weather.

Caltrans anticipates having an estimate on when edge stabilization work at the site will be complete later this week. Kevin Drabinski gives a detailed description of how this work is being done.

A $1M emergency contract is funding immediate work. Total costs including permanent repairs could be in excess of $25M.

500-600 vehicles are going through convoy checkpoint each day.

CHP is screening vehicles as the convoys are for residents and essential workers only.

Approximately 50 vehicles each day are being turned around, tourists who were trying to travel to Big Sur or down Highway 1 to southern California.

  1. Sat in the convoy line today trying to get home in Palo and counted 120 cars going north at 5:00

  2. “Kevin Drabinski gives a detailed description of how this work is being done.” Where can I find the info?
