Regent’s Slide and Remote Controlled Equipment Video

Two remote-controlled bulldozers and one excavator are working in tandem with traditional equipment to advance repairs at Regent’s Slide on Hwy. 1. Remote-controlled rigs are able to traverse areas of the still active slide where it may otherwise be unsafe for crews to operate. The video is viewable on X, here: https://x.com/caltransd5/status/1917246092741316820?s=61

  1. Great video. Equipment zoom about, work looks like it is being achieved quickly and efficiently. Also looks like a fun job to control those remote controlled Tonka Toys.

  2. spooky to watch uncrewed machines working ! clever solution to a difficult situation. i imagine DARPA is paying attention.

  3. Color me skeptical, but trying to repair a road when the slide is still active seems like a fool’s errand and a waste of money. Wonder if they ever explored building the road out over the ocean similar to the Grand Pacific Drive in New South Wales, Australia where conditions and topography are similar …

  4. Call me paranoid, but I am shocked that the State is requiring those wanting public information to “visit” “X” or any other privately-owned “social” media.
