To all Veterans on this day, remember your oath

Today, more than ever, America needs its veterans to remember that their oaths to the Constitution do not expire. (Ken Harbaugh)

Women Veterans

And we won’t be made invisible by this administration or any other…Hegseth be damned. I took an oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign or domestic.

‘’It has been twenty years since I left the Navy. Thirty since I raised my right hand and swore the oath. Today is Veterans Day, and I will hear “thank you for your service” more times than I can count. I appreciate the sentiment. But our past service is not enough – America needs us to stand up and meet this moment, to remember that our oaths did not expire simply because we took off the uniform.” (Ken Harbaugh) To read the rest of his amazing post on being a veteran and patriotism from this Marine Corps Master Sgt see: https://www.meidasplus.com/p/a-different-kind-of-patriotism?utm_medium=email

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

FULL OVERNIGHT CLOSURE OF HIGHWAY 1

AT ROCKY CREEK BRIDGE

SUNDAY, November 9 | 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM

MONTEREY COUNTY — Caltrans will implement a full overnight closure of Highway 1 at the Rocky Creek Bridge, located approximately 12 miles south of Carmel, beginning Sunday, November 9, at 10:00 pm. The highway will reopen by Monday morning, November 10, at 6:00 am.

The overnight closure will allow crews to complete the final phases of the Rocky Creek Seawall Project, which remains on schedule for completion by November 10, weather and site conditions permitting. This milestone marks the peak of extensive work to strengthen the seawall and enhance long-term stability along this critical section of Highway 1.

Closure Details:

The full closure will begin Sunday, November 9, at 10:00 pm, with reopening scheduled for 6:00 am on Monday, November 10. During the closure, construction crews will finalize project demobilization and complete finishing work at the site. Heavy equipment will be staged across both lanes, and no through traffic will be permitted during work hours. Travelers are advised to plan ahead and avoid the area during this temporary closure.

I am in a bad spot to upload the two photos Caltrans included of the before and after of the sea wall, but will continue to try to do so later.

Caltrans thanks residents, businesses, and travelers for their continued patience and cooperation as this important coastal infrastructure project nears completion.

Big Sur Remains Accessible and Open:

Travelers are reminded that over 100 miles of Highway 1 on the Big Sur coast remain open and accessible. Travelers from northern California will find easy access to historic bridges, waterfalls, restaurants, and lodging amenities.

Travelers from southern California will find that the highway brings them directly within reach of the unparalleled views, lodging amenities, and natural wonders of Lucia, the Camaldoli Hermitage, Gorda, Ragged Point, San Simeon, and Cambria.

Road information and updates can also be found on Caltrans District 5 Social Media platforms: X/Twitter at: @CaltransD5, Facebook at: Caltrans Central Coast (District 5) and Instagram at: Caltrans_D5.

Our crews deserve to get home safely too.

Drive slowly and carefully in work zones.
