Two Minor Fires — One Big Sur, one Santa Barbara

As of 8:30 pm last night, LPNF WildCAD is reporting this as 1/4 acre in heavy brush between Palo Colorado and Old Coast Rd. Nothing being reported this morning, 6/9, which is a good thing.

The second was about a mile from the Gaviota rest stop in Santa Barbara. As of 11 pm, Wildfire is reporting this one is holding at 15 acres.

I finally get around to posting new photos, and I am preempted by fires. Just look below.

  1. I’m so glad that you got your camera! Great pictures. There’s an article in the Vanity Fair that has some pictures of Santorini. I’ll save it for the next time I see you.

  2. I was sitting here catching up with your blogs, posting a comment on the prior one and suddenly got the strong smell of smoke. Every time I smell smoke now, something very internal in me panics. I don’t understand why in an obvious fire season where we live in a ‘red area’ as defined on the fire maps, that some neighbor must burn in their fireplaces? Its not for lack of a way to heat their homes.
