Highway 1 Update, 1/24/17

Found this on twitter from Cal Trans District 5. This is past the “slide” on the south end of Mud Creek. Oops, someone didn’t see the drain pipe before digging.

*We have numerous slides between the closure points, the largest being at: Mud Creek (PM 8.8), Paul’s Slide (PM 21.6, shown above), at Big Creek (PM 28.09, one shown above) and at Anderson Cyn. Bridge (PM 35.4)

NEW INFO—FOR ALL MOTORISTS, LOCALS AND EMERGENCY SERVICES ONLY

FOR ALL MOTORISTS: PAUL’S SLIDE (PM 21.6) IS NOT PASSABLE/ESCORTABLE TODAY…NEW SLIDES KEEP ROAD CLOSED FROM RAGGED POINT (SLO PM 72.87) TO FULLER’S (MON PM 42) DUE TO ROCK/MUDSLIDES AT MULTIPLE LOCATIONS. All Motorists may travel south on Hwy. 1 from Carmel to Fuller’s (PM 42) or travel north from Cambria to Ragged Point.

FOR LOCALS RESIDENTS ONLY: Local residents can travel south from Carmel to JPB State Park (PM 35.84) Also, there is ONE LANE OPEN at Big Creek (PM 28.09); locals are allowed to travel from south of the Burns Creek Bridge (PM 34.24—SOUTH of the Anderson Slide) to Lucia (PM 23), but NOT SOUTH PAST PAUL’S SLIDE (21.6), OR NORTH PAST ANDERSON SLIDE (PM 35.4)

EMERGENCY SERVICES ONLY: Can get South from Fuller’s past Anderson Slide to Lucia (PM 23) but NOT SOUTH PAST PAUL’S SLIDE (21.6)

+++CHP CONTINUES WITH NORTHERN CLOSURE OF HWY. 1 AT FULLER’S (PM 42)–EMERGENCY VEHICLES ONLY ALLOWED THRU ANDERSON CLOSURE–LOCALS WILL BE CITED BY CHP AND NOT ALLOWED TO TURN AROUND+++

ROADWAY IS ONLY PASSABLE TO LOCAL RESIDENTS AND EMERGENCY SERVICES, BUT ONLY WHERE MENTIONED ABOVE.
