  1. Fantastic picture!! What a job that must have been to create that road. I wonder how many years it took??

  2. Stop in at the community library– the historic association has collected a tremendous archival ..all your curiosity can be addressed🎉

  3. This photo was found while my Cousin Paula was going through pictures from our old ranch in Marina near where the Library is now. Our family did have a history of mining, blasting and road construction but there is no notation on the picture. That Pozar side of the family did move into the area in the 1930s.

  4. I can’t figure this one out (as to where it was taken). The road is really low to the ocean and there are land masses up and to the left.

I wanted to think this was somewhere south of Limekiln SP looking north, but from looking at Google Street View, the distant landmass (which would be Lucia if I was right) is the wrong shape.

    I’m stumped.

  5. Both Kenny Wright and I agree that this is between Grey Slip and Alder Creek, so given the expertise of these two old farts. I think we are correct.

  6. My dear Dad was a ‘dozer operator around that time–Ojai for sure, but I don’t know where else. No wonder there are slope failures. I don’t know how they compacted and handled subsurface water accumulation in those days. Were any of the engineers from Georgia Tech? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SnIH51niqCY
