This time of year I let the dogs out at 7 am — mountain lions usually hunt between dusk and dawn, so I want dawn to be over before I let them out. This morning at exactly 7 am, Lady came and put her chin on the foot of my bed. Who says dogs can’t tell time?

  1. I’d still be careful. Mountain lions are opportunistic, too, and unattended pets can be tempting. In a changing world, our wildlife adapts faster than we do …

Probably the same people who think dogs don’t have souls. Just look into those eyes…

  3. Ali, I keep my dogs close to the house, and keep the door open when they are out, but yes, a neighbor had one come within 20 feet of his house when he was at the door watching his dog — all in broad daylight

  4. A pack of dogs (maybe a pair, maybe one) can tree a puma.

    We are all animals.

    Dogs can recognize minimal pairs.
