Timber Fire, 8/9/26 EVACUATION WARNING ISSUED:

NOW: KSUR at 90.1 is broadcasting re the Timber Frie. Beginning at 4:59 pm, KSUR at 90.1 will be broadcasting official updates. On the top of the hour and the bottom of the hour until further notice. For those of you in town it is KSPB 91.9

4:15 PM –

2:30 UPDATE; Pay attention to any evacuation warnings that may be issued. I am waiting for official word. Video from Neva Case taken at 1 pm I have not been able to upload. I got it on you tube, but can’t seem to navigate it to here. https://youtu.be/ukenLL2NxiI?is=CrH1WtNtSerkBm9d

11:00 am UPDATE: Watch Duty is showing 100 acres and 20% containment. I will try to post an update each hour today for as long as I can with power issue, or until I take a nap, if needed. LOL.

10:00 am – I have been following this fire since it started last night shortly after 7 pm. I got a notice from PulsePoint. WD had not alerted to it yet. I lost my power at 9 pm and have been trying to stay abreast via batteries and Jackerys. Not easy. The sun is shining directly on my solar panels, now, so hopefully I will be okay today. Too much use of my stand-alone ice maker for the last 3 days (all day, each day). I will try to keep this updated as my power allows.

There are five aircraft flying this now, I believe. Here is a photo taken from Apple Pie Ridge at 9:30 am:

  1. Kate,
Watch Duty is showing 50% containment. Your picture is still showing movement. Hopefully they will get a handle on it soon. This is the second fire this week. Hope they are connected.

  2. Thanks for the update Kate. Hope your power comes back on. Been watching it on WD. Stay safe everyone!

  3. 1 acre fire yesterday rd 8 upper Milpitas
Liggett and CalFire on it and out as of last night. Deer hunters with campfire.
    Good luck up there.

  4. Here are some pictures starting last night at 11:44pm from Coastlands, then we drove around today at 2pm and took pictures from vantage points from Nepenthe then drove south under the fire ridge looking up the canyon where the fire was pluming up in trees…then a view from Ventana looking south at 2:40pm. Marine layer has come back in on the coast so can’t see anything from home. Just heard sirens heading south on Hwy 1 for the first time fyi. https://photos.app.goo.gl/Mr1C1tc9PJqwph4c7

  5. Just received evacuation warning via text:

“1/2 Timber Fire Evacuation Warning Zones MRY-F026 and MRY-F027
Monterey County Sheriff’s Office is issuing an EVACUATION WARNING related to the Timber Fire for areas of Big Sur near Partington Ridge Road and North Coast Ridge Road for Zones MRY-F026 and MRY-F027. This evacuation warning excludes the Ventana Inn.

When a warning is issued, assume an evacuation order could follow. This is your window to get ready: pack a go-bag, gather essential items, and make arrangements, especially if you have pets, large animals, or if you need extra time or assistance to leave.
