Winter Weather Station

I just bought myself a wonderful weather station. It does it all. Hoping to install the outside station late this afternoon.

Looking forward to getting much more accurate results, and rain totals in the .01ths, instead of .1s. And wind speeds up to 150 mph! We don’t get those really high winds every winter, but whatever we get, I’ll be able to accurately measure!

  1. You remind me of Thomas Jefferson. Monticello is a fairly compact few acres with a modest house and gardens. It is impressive for the presence of intellect and curiosity, palpable in every inch. It was Jefferson’s practice to record wind, rainfall, and temperatures daily. Like you, everything interested him, especially his beloved land.

  2. I am not sure I will upload to either, yet. The software for Davis seems a little steep. Also, I’m not sure I if I need a consistent Internet, power, and computer. If so, that would be a challenge.

  3. Kate, thank you for all you do. You benefit the community in a huge way. Blessings.

  4. Good for you! I’ve always had a vague yearning for something like that, but for now I settle on knowing the outside temperature and using a rinky-dink rain gage. 😉 But, oh my, it would be fun to record some of our predicted 100mph wind gusts on occasion.

  5. Nola, thank you for your kind words.

Gunta, I made do with a series of risky-dink rain gauges and thermometers. So glad to have more options.

  6. I got it from Amazon, BUT it is made in Hayward, and Amazon shipped it from a company in Conn.

  7. Oh Kate, this is terrific and will be a lot of fun! Winds here right now are blowing at 45 mph with gusts up to 85 mph. Nice living in the desert-:)

  8. Nice! I have the same one. When it is raining hard enough it will display “its raining cats and dogs”
