Power Outage in much of Monterey Peninsula

As of 7:30 am, power outages in Carmel, some of CV, the Highlands, PG, Monterey, Del Rey Oaks, Seaside, who knows where else. 55,000 people are without power. PG&E are working to find the source, per one source. Another says a huge explosion at the Moss Landing power plant is the source. PG&E says they are investigating. The outage is from Moss Landing to the Highlands, and to Salinas on the other side, according to PG&E website mentioned below by Lisa K in the comments below. The outage is expected to last until noon.

  1. For what it is worth, this is what PG&E is showing on the outage map. http://www.pge.com/myhome/outages/outage/ – looks like from Seaside through to and including the Highlands. If you are looking for gas, the Highlands store is still pumping as they are on generator.

  2. Thanks, Lisa

  3. We got power back in Carmel at 10:00 am.

  4. Glad to hear it, Mike…a couple hours earlier than predicted. That’s always good.

  5. It is 12:45 pm and the power has not been restored.

  6. (Back on as of 1:15 in this part of Monterey.)

  7. We are in the Laureles Grade area of Carmel Valley, and PG&E is now saying estimated restore time is 11:00 pm…ugh.

  8. We are the power, the light and the warmth. Especially when we come together!
