Highway to open tomorrow, Weds. 7/18 at 10 am

12;15 – In the Nacimiento Lake area. 10 acres. IC and Air Attack placing fixed wing aircraft on load and hold at Paso Robles Air Attack Base. Additional Air Tanker requested out of Porterville has been cancelled.
I am taking the day off from tourists today in anticipation of the invasion on Friday. (Also I was quite busy reading indictments, complaints, etc. yesterday. Nice to know I am not out of practice.)
Mud Creek:

There is a 100 acre wildfire on FHL, that started about 2:15 pm. It near the boundary with the LPNF, or “the red zone” as one former FHL FF calls it. Paso Robles sent air attack to it, so hopefully they are dropping on it before it gets to the forest.

This is WildCAD’s dispatch log:
| 07/15/2018 14:12 | FHL-1894 PFL0GP (1502) |
Loop | Wildfire | San Miguelito Loop and FOB 8J | . | . | . | grass | 0.1 | 35 55.950, -121 16.434 |
Here are some old (1981) photos of Gray Slip. Some of the material for Mud Creek reconstruction came from here. We will be watching this one this winter, along, of course, with Mud Creek and Paul’s Slide. There are 10, I think, so going with a slide show this Sunday. May you have a peaceful Sunday…

The I found this on FB from PCW:
“Vehicle injury accident, Highway 1 half a mile north of Nacimiento Fergusson. Big Sur.
Vehicle over the side. Calling in H70 (helo). They are inquiring about weather conditions and if they will be able to land. Patient is conscious and breathing. Broken shoulder. Driving a white Jeep and been there since the 6th of July! Sounds like it’s our missing girl!”
The El Nino watch continues this month, with ENSO-neutral favored through Northern Hemisphere summer 2018, with the chance for El Niño increasing to about 65% during fall, and to about 70% during winter 2018-19. El Niño prediction

6:30 pm -Panoche Fire off Panoche Road, 2 miles north of CAL FIRE Antelope Station, southeast of Hollister (San Benito County) is now 250 acres and 5% contained. Here is a map:

You might remember that only a month or two ago, there was another Panoche Fire on this road that resulted in the death of a woman, her child, and her baby, allegedly started by a bbq.
