7 pm — from Ashley Seefeldt

6:20 pm — AA reports fire is now 200-250 acres after a slop-over & the fire is now making a run to the east, potential for 1000 acres. T-911 is on the way from McClellan. Just to recap assigned aircraft.
currently 2 AA’s have been assigned today.
2 leads have also been swapping shifts today.
Helicopter 527, 528, 530, 406 (back from the maintenance issue)
Type 1 copters: 95B, FTX
8 Tankers assigned:
T-10, 12, 74, 75, 79, 80, 82, 911

5 pm…fire just picked up again…helicopters and planes are both flying it.

Los Padres NF (LosPadresNF)
#MillFire has burned approximately 50 acres on the Nacimiento-Fergusson Rd about 3-5 miles above Highway 1. @LosPadresNF has initiated a full response to include air resources. Nac-Ferg Rd is closed in both directions to allow fire equipment to safely navigate the road.3:12 PM – 30 Jul 2019
I also read that the fire had hooked around retardant lines, so going indirect.
2 pm – photo from Alms Ridge by Tom Collins
1:20 pm — just went off again. The first one is from the Hermitage side, the second from mine.

12:38 pm — the fire column has flattened out, now, and is looking pretty good. The aircraft were flying it on all sides, so it is probably surrounded by retardant. They are continuing to fly. I think my DSLR internal clock has not been reset to PDT, so subtract an hour from the first 2 photos., below. The others shot with cell, so they are golden.

More photos. That plume is growing as I watch.

Well, we made the GOES satellite:

Last few trips up Naci late at night I saw cars parked there at Lions creek, campers.
I am betting on an abandoned campfire. Small white van with no tail lights seen leaving the area.
Kate, tough to tell what wind activity is doing to fire conditions- those images look like areas around it are minimal.
Breeze is blowing the fire to the east. It died down, and now looks like it might be picking up again – the fire, not the breeze.
Do we know the containment of this fire? I’ve been trying to find it somewhere, but unable to locate any information.
I have no containment numbers yet, but will look.
Well Shit!! There are No Containment Numbers Yet. & the Acres Burned is Closer to 100.
Is Luke on this, Sandy?
Just got word it is holding at 120 acres.
I know Duke is but not sure about Luke.
Kate, – indirect attack – for those novice in FF terms …
A method of suppression in which the control line is located some considerable distance away from the fire’s active edge. This method is generally used in the case of a fast-spreading or high-intensity fire and to utilize natural or constructed firebreaks, fuel breaks, and favorable breaks in the topography. The intervening fuel is usually backfired, but occasionally the main fire is allowed to burn to the line, depending on conditions. Contrast direct attack.”

Thank you so much Kate and all your ‘crew’ for keeping us updated. Can’t see a plume from Coastlands anymore so I hope that means it’s dying down. Keeping fingers crossed and eyes open.
Barbara, refresh your page and you will see it took off again. Photos taken at 5 pm, column back.
Kate your information is invaluable. Now we know why NF Road is closed at HWY 1. Let’s hope it doesn’t enlarge too much.
