Overnight Closure for next week pushed out two days due to predicted rain

HIGHWAY 1 FULL OVERNIGHT CLOSURES SOUTH OF RAGGED POINT NEXT WEEK HAVE BEEN RE-SCHEDULED

SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY – A full closure of Highway 1 in both directions approximately two miles south of Ragged Point has been re-scheduled to Wednesday, March 11 and Thursday, March 12 during the overnight hours from 11:55 pm until 6 am.

This closure will extend from the traffic signals which maintain the 24/7 traffic control north and south of the project area between the San Carpoforo Creek Bridge and Ragged Point.

The closures scheduled for next Monday, March 9 and Tuesday, March 10 have been cancelled due to expected rain in the area.

Access will be maintained for emergency responders. Electronic message boards will be posted to alert the public.

This full highway closure is necessary so that Caltrans can perform a concrete pour as part of a project to construct a viaduct and retaining wall along this portion of Highway 1.

Two wildfires in opposite ends of CA

MannFire [Update] 3:40 P.M. Fire is 175 acres and is now 20% contained. Forward spread has stopped, however, EVACUATION ORDERS REMAIN IN PLACE. 2 civilians received non-life threatening injuries. Five properties received minor damage to fencing and outbuildings.

Two fires happening in opposite ends of the state on March 3. One is on the Tahoe NF and is 20 acres with a 4 acre spot fire. The other is in Norco in Riverside County with mandatory evacuations issued. Last I checked, it was 100 acres or more. This one is the Mann Fire, I believe. Tahoe is the Baker Fire.

A quickly moving 100-acre wildfire in Norco forced the evacuation of 1,500 residents Tuesday, threatening an estimated 500 homes, according to Cal Fire. The Mann Fire was first reported at 9:41 a.m. in the Santa Ana River Bottom near California Avenue, authorities said.

Here we go — rapid rate of spread for both, in early MARCH!!

This $4.1 million project is Souza Engineering of San Luis Obispo, CA.  It’s scheduled to be complete by Spring of 2020.
