Photos by Anneliese Agren taken on Friday, 3/17. It is the collapse of the highway at the Willow Springs Caltrans yard, and the hard closure of Highway One on the southern end, although there are some additional problem areas from this point to Ragged Point, which is a guarded closure.

And now there is this:

I think this weather report has been the most accurate . He updates it daily and it is very in-depth and helpful https://youtu.be/lxM0OdK2UB0
Thanks Johnee for that weather link, I subscribed! He’s great.
Both links are so helpful: thank-you to Michele and Johnee and of course to Kate. I came across the link Michele includes late in Feb. I never heard of it before but was amazed at the accuracy.
Good Grief! You Big Sur folks are really getting slammed… I had one slide that took out Hwy 1 up north here, but it had one lane open within a week. I simply can’t imagine these nonstop slides and closures on top of the fires not so long ago. My heart reaches out to you, at least there’s good neighbors to hel each other as needed. Thank heavens for any blessing!
The second photo appears to be local people leaving for the scheduled evacuation or hauling supplies. Quietly dramatic in a Big Sur kind of way.
